Kedarkanta trek is said to be the queen of trekking destinations in the Uttarkashi belt of Uttarakhand. Day 01 : Dehradun to Sankri/ Kotgaon

How to Reach

At first, you have to arrive at Rishikesh, after that THC crew will deal with your further itinerary.
1. Take Cab/Bus/Train to reach Rishikesh
2. We generally suggest going for the govt. Cancelling a trek/tour in himalayas is like a real pain when you have been planning of it since a long time. So to make it more convenient for the trekkers we introduce easy cancellation policy. This Policy is effective only as per your booking date.

1. If you are cancelling your trek prior 15 days from your trek date, then we provide you with the FULL REFUND.

2. If you are cancelling your trek within 15 days from your trek date, then there will be NO REFUND.

3. If you want to change the date of your trek, then it should only be done before 20 days from your trek date.

4. THC holds the right to change/cancel the policies, without prior notice.

5. If we cancel/postpone our trek on the day of departure due to uncertain natural calamity or circumstances I( landslide, heavy rain ) in that case your total amount that you paid prior would be refunded within 3 working days.


When you reach Juda ka Talab a lake where it is believed Shiva untied his long locks and squeezed the water out of his locks to form a lake. Overnight stay in camps near the lake will make you experience a life which was hundreds of years ago, with starlit skies and frozen snow lake. In the morning the trekking journey will take you towards the peak of Kedarkanta, on the way, there is a good possibility of snow rains, if that is heavy, there are Van Gujjar huts for shelter. You will be seeing imposing views of bigger mountains nearby such as Banderpoonch, Kala Nag, Swargarohini, Ranglana, and such, you can keep taking selfies from here.

The villagers have been living there since the Mahabharata times, they are not by the modern times and lifestyles of people from other parts of India. They are ingenious from the Himalayas.


Upon reaching the tent at the campsite at Kedarkanta you can have a sumptuous vegetarian meal and retire for the night after some fun. The trek to the summit is mesmerizing, to say the least, the nearby peaks radiate great amounts of positive energy, and if it is a full moon night, nothing glows as much as snow-capped giant mountains reflecting moonlight. Though the trek can be made around the year, the motorable road to Sankri is blocked with thick snowfall in the late winter season, even reaching Sankri becomes a task. Kedarkanta is filled with snow from December to April almost every year. Experienced trekkers would recommend newbies and inexperienced ones to start with Kedarkanta before embarking on bigger and tougher trekking expeditions. Since the height is quite high, snow leopards and Himalayan black bears are likely to be there on the way, it is always best to take an experienced trekking guide for a safe and pleasurable trekking experience. The trekking expeditions are always made in a group to make everybody feel safer and more enjoyable. You should start taking to trekking for that memorable experience.
